U.S. President Joe Biden expressed confidence on Monday that a strike by workers at the nation's three major automakers is unlikely, despite the looming contract deadline later this month. Speaking in Philadelphia ahead of the U.S. Labor Day holiday, Biden stated, "I'm not worried about a strike. I don't think it's going to happen." This statement comes after the United Auto Workers (UAW) union announced last month that its members had overwhelmingly voted in favor of authorizing a strike at the Detroit Three automakers if an agreement is not reached by September 14, when the current four-year contract expires.

While the possibility of a strike remains uncertain, UAW President Shawn Fain has demanded substantial wage and benefit gains, prompting concerns among Detroit industry executives and analysts who fear potential walkouts in September.
