Ex-NFL star Adam Jones arrested in airport for intoxication, terroristic threats, official says

20:46 11.09.2023

Former Cincinnati Bengals defensive back Adam Pacman Jones was arrested on Monday morning at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The arrest came after police responded to a report of an unruly passenger on a flight scheduled for departure. Jones was taken into custody and booked on misdemeanor counts of alcohol intoxication, disorderly conduct, and terroristic threatening, according to Captain Kevin Klute of the Boone County Jail.

Airport spokesperson Mindy Kerschner confirmed that Jones was the passenger who was arrested before takeoff and subsequently taken to the Boone Country Detention Center. However, specific details about the circumstances leading to his arrest were not immediately released.

After being released from jail, Jones spoke to WKRC-TV and vehemently denied the allegations against him. He explained that he had requested to be moved to another seat because the phone charger for the two seats he had purchased was not working. Jones claimed that he was told the plane would have to be turned around, which he found unreasonable. He adamantly denied being intoxicated and rejected the accusation of making terroristic threats.

This incident is not the first time Jones has faced legal troubles throughout his career. After playing college football at West Virginia, Jones was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2005. However, his 12-year tenure in the NFL was marred by off-field incidents and suspensions. He played two seasons for the Titans before being suspended for the entire 2007 season due to conduct that involved numerous incidents where he was interviewed by the police.

Jones returned to the league in 2008 with the Dallas Cowboys but faced further challenges off the field. Eventually, he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010 and spent the majority of his career with the team. He earned Pro Bowl selections in 2014 and 2015. Jones concluded his NFL career with a brief stint playing for the Denver Broncos in 2018 before being released.

Despite his successes on the field, Jones has struggled to overcome his off-field issues, and this recent arrest adds to his troubled history. The former NFL player expressed his distress, stating, "I'm hurt, this is embarrassing." It remains to be seen how this latest incident will impact Jones' reputation and future prospects.
