Remembering Kellie Pickler's Late Husband: Private Ceremony Honors Kyle Jacobs

00:33 01.10.2023

In a heartfelt tribute, Kellie Pickler's late husband, Kyle Jacobs, was honored at a private memorial service held at Franklin First United Methodist Church in Franklin, Tennessee. The three-hour celebration of life took place on August 21 and was attended by hundreds of mourners who gathered to pay homage to the talented songwriter and vocalist. Despite the absence of Pickler, the ceremony was livestreamed on YouTube, allowing friends, family, and fans to join in commemorating Jacobs' life.

The memorial service, which was meticulously planned and presented by his family, aimed to capture the essence of how Jacobs lived his life. In a statement released by his parents, they expressed the need for this celebration to cope with the shock of their son's passing and to navigate life without him. The statement also highlighted Kyle's love for life, his family, and friends, emphasizing how he wholeheartedly touched the lives of countless individuals, even strangers. The family expressed gratitude towards the church family for their support and professionalism in organizing the event, as well as everyone who contributed to the ceremony's arrangement.

The ceremony began with an invitation to prayer by Mike Curb, the founder of Curb Records, who shared heartfelt words of remembrance for Jacobs. Emotional speeches and musical performances from Jacobs' family, friends, and colleagues followed, creating an atmosphere filled with love and reminiscence. The service came to a close with a performance of Jacobs' song, "You Are With Me," leaving a lasting impression on all those in attendance.

Tragically, on February 17, Jacobs was found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot in an upstairs bedroom/office, as confirmed by a representative from the Nashville Police Department. Pickler had awoken earlier that day and, upon discovering her husband's absence, began searching for him. When she and her personal assistant were unable to open the door to the bedroom/office, they immediately contacted the authorities. An autopsy report later confirmed that Jacobs had taken his own life. Although toxicology results revealed no drugs in his system at the time, his medical history pointed towards pseudoseizures, gastrointestinal bleeding, elevated liver enzymes, and chronic alcohol use.

After six months of silence, Pickler broke her silence on her husband's passing in a statement to People magazine. Reflecting on the lessons he taught her, she shared his advice in times of crisis: "Do nothing, just be still." Grateful for the outpouring of support from her family, friends, and supporters, Pickler acknowledged their prayers and messages that have helped her through the darkest time in her life.

Pickler and Jacobs had announced their engagement in 2010 after a year and a half of dating. They surprised everyone with a New Year's Day wedding in 2011. The country star had revealed plans for an intimate memorial for her husband, a reflection of what he would have wanted.

In light of this tragic event, it is essential to address mental health concerns. If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, please reach out to the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988 or 1-800-273-TALK (8255) for immediate support and assistance.
