Arrest made in disappearance of Washington couple, feared dead

21:00 19.11.2023

In a shocking turn of events, the suspect responsible for the disappearance of a Washington state couple has been identified as a tenant and an employee of one of the victims, according to a relative. Karen Koep and her partner, known as Davido, were reported missing on Monday, sparking a desperate search effort. However, the Thurston County Sheriff's Office announced on Friday that they do not believe the couple survived the horrific attack that took place at their home.

The authorities confirmed on Saturday that they have arrested Timothy Burke of Olympia in connection with the case. Burke now faces charges of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of kidnapping. Koep's sister, Pauline Dutton, revealed on Friday that Burke was one of several tenants living on a rental property owned by the couple. Additionally, Burke also worked for Davido, presumably as a means to cover his rent.

Although the sheriff's office has not disclosed the nature of the relationship between the victims and the suspect, Dutton expressed that she was unaware of any issues the couple had been facing prior to their disappearance. However, she did mention that there had been ongoing drama with the tenants residing in the couple's rental property. Dutton emphasized that she was uncertain whether this drama had any connection to the current situation.

Dutton further revealed that she firmly believes her sister and Davido did not leave their home in Lacey willingly. The last contact she had with Koep was through a text message exchange on November 10th, which she noted was also the last day anyone had heard from the couple. The couple's disappearance was officially reported on Monday when Koep failed to show up at her chiropractic clinic, prompting concern from both her family and colleagues. Worried for their safety, Dutton contacted the police, who conducted a wellness check on their residence but found no sign of either Koep or Davido.

Adding to the mystery surrounding their disappearance, authorities later discovered the couple's silver 2015 Toyota Yaris abandoned on a street in Lacey.

As the investigation continues, the Thurston County Sheriff's Office has determined that foul play is involved in the couple's vanishing act. Tragically, it appears increasingly likely that they may have fallen victim to a violent attack at their own home. The community is left in shock and disbelief as they grapple with the horrifying reality of this devastating crime.
