Taylor Swift's Super Bowl weekend plans could cost a whopping $119K

Taylor Swift, the world's most famous Kansas City Chiefs fan, will be able to attend Super Bowl LVIII to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, according to Japan's U.S. embassy. Despite performing in Tokyo the night before the game, Swift will be able to make it to Las Vegas in time. The embassy confirmed that Swift's flight from Tokyo to Las Vegas, which includes a 12-hour flight and a 17-hour time difference, will allow her to comfortably arrive before the Super Bowl begins. The embassy's statement, filled with puns on Swift's songs, reassured fans that she will be able to wow Japanese audiences and support the Chiefs wearing red.

Social media users responded with both excitement and bemusement to the embassy's statement, speculating that there must be a Swiftie working in communications who had the best day at the office. Swift, who has concerts scheduled in Tokyo from February 7 to 10, will finish her show at the Tokyo Dome on February 10 at 6 p.m. local time. Assuming she departs immediately after her concert, she could arrive back in the U.S. on the night of Saturday, February 10, with plenty of time before the game's scheduled kickoff of 3:30 p.m. Swift's Eras Tour has been a massive success, estimated to bring in almost $2 billion, and she could break the record for most Album of the Year wins at the Grammys on Sunday.

Swift's presence at Chiefs games has drawn in a new wave of NFL fans, and her appearance on the field after the Chiefs' victory against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game, where she embraced Kelce, further fueled speculation about her attendance at the Super Bowl. Swift and Kelce have been dating since July 2023, and she has attended 11 of his matches since September. While she has faced criticism for drawing attention away from the game, her appearance has also attracted wider audiences, particularly among younger female demographics.

To attend both her concert in Tokyo and the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, fans would need to spend a significant amount of money. Bloomberg News estimated that the entire trip, including tickets to both events, flights, hotels, and food, could cost as much as $119,000. However, it is possible to attend both events for around $7,800. Commercial flights would require fans to attend one of Swift's earlier concerts in Tokyo. Tickets for her concert range from $231 to $7,300 in the secondary marketplace, while the cheapest seat at the Super Bowl is selling for around $5,008. Accommodations in Tokyo and Las Vegas, as well as additional expenses for food and ground transportation, would also need to be factored in.
