UConn Men's Final Four Arrival Delayed by Plane Issues

08:51 04.04.2024

Defending national champion UConn faced some unexpected challenges on their journey to the Final Four in Arizona. The team's flight was delayed due to mechanical issues with the original plane, causing them to depart from Bradley International Airport near Hartford in a smaller Allegiant Air plane at 1:30 a.m. EDT. Despite the late arrival at 3:15 a.m. MST on Thursday, the Huskies are gearing up to face fourth-seeded Alabama in the semifinals on Saturday night at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.

This travel setback comes after a series of transportation difficulties for UConn, who had not been on a plane since early March due to canceled flights. Coach Dan Hurley expressed disappointment over the situation, which was first reported by CBS Sports. The NCAA, in a statement, acknowledged the challenges faced by the team and worked with UConn and a charter company to explore alternative options.

While other teams like Alabama, Purdue, and North Carolina State arrived in Arizona earlier in the week, UConn's delayed arrival adds an extra layer of adversity for the defending champions. Despite the obstacles, the Huskies remain focused on their goal of securing another national title in the upcoming games.
