Top QBs dominate first round of 2024 NFL Draft

The 2024 NFL Draft kicked off with a bang as the Chicago Bears selected USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick. The Bears, who traded away Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers last month, hope that Williams will bring much-needed stability to their quarterback position. Williams, known for his electric playmaking ability and eccentric personality, was a highly-touted prospect coming into the draft.

The Washington Commanders followed suit by selecting LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels at No. 2, while the New England Patriots surprised many by taking North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye at No. 3. The Arizona Cardinals added to their offensive firepower by selecting Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., son of Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison Sr., at No. 4.

The Los Angeles Chargers opted to address their offensive line needs by selecting Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt at No. 5, despite rumors of a potential trade down. The New York Giants then added a playmaker to their offense by selecting LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers at No. 6.

The Tennessee Titans made a bold move by selecting Alabama offensive tackle JC Latham at No. 7, while the Atlanta Falcons raised eyebrows by selecting Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. at No. 8. The Bears continued to bolster their offense by selecting Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze at No. 9.

The Indianapolis Colts then added to their pass rush by selecting UCLA edge rusher Laiatu Latu at No. 15.

The Seattle Seahawks bolstered their defensive line by selecting Texas defensive tackle Byron Murphy at No. 16, while the Minnesota Vikings made another trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars to select Alabama edge rusher Dallas Turner at No. 17. The Cincinnati Bengals added to their offensive line by selecting Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims at No. 18.

The Los Angeles Rams continued to build their defense by selecting Florida State edge rusher Jared Verse at No. 19, while the Pittsburgh Steelers addressed their offensive line needs by selecting Washington offensive lineman Troy Fautanu at No. 20. The Miami Dolphins added to their pass rush by selecting Penn State edge rusher Chop Robinson at No. 21.

The Philadelphia Eagles made a steal by selecting Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell at No. 22, while the Jacksonville Jaguars selected LSU wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. at No. 23. The Detroit Lions traded up to select Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold at No. 24.

The Green Bay Packers added to their offensive line by selecting Arizona offensive tackle Jordan Morgan at No. 25, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers added to their offensive line by selecting Duke offensive lineman Graham Barton at No. 26. The Arizona Cardinals continued to bolster their defense by selecting Missouri edge rusher Darius Robinson at No. 27.

The Kansas City Chiefs made a splash by selecting Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy at No. 28, while the Dallas Cowboys added to their offensive line by selecting Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton at No. 29. The Baltimore Ravens added to their secondary by selecting Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins at No. 30.

The San Francisco 49ers added to their receiving corps by selecting Florida wide receiver Ricky Pearsall at No. 31, while the Carolina Panthers closed out the first round by selecting South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette at No. 32. Rounds two and three of the draft will be held Friday, with rounds four through seven taking place on Saturday.
