Monday Night Football' picks: Steelers-Browns, Saints-Panthers player props

20:00 18.09.2023 - New York Post, Erich Richter

A double dose of "Monday Night Football" gives us plenty of player props to choose from in Week 2.

Last week, we went 3-0 on MNF picks and followed with a profitable 2-3 day Sunday thanks to a plus-money hit on Anthony Richardson to run for a touchdown.

Below, we target Week 2's big slate of ‘Monday Night Football' games, including Steelers-Browns and Saints-Panthers in the late window.

‘Monday Night Football' player props and picks
Browns vs. Steelers
Jaylen Warren over 2.5 receptions +150 ( BetMGM )

This is the best running back in Pittsburgh, but the world doesn't know it yet.

And America is unlikely to find out tonight against an excellent Browns defense, but Warren is growing into one of the NFL's better pass-catching threats out of the backfield.

Last week, Warren received six targets and hauled in five passes from Kenny Pickett.

Warren's role will only increase as the season wears on and there's even more targets to be gobbled up with Diontae Johnson set to be inactive Monday.

Elijah Moore over 3.5 receptions +120 ( PointsBet )

Fresh off a three-catch performance in Week 1, ex-Jets receiver Elijah Moore takes on an even more important role as the WR1 with Amari Cooper looking doubtful for Cleveland.

Moore had seven targets last week and dropped a few balls that would've easily cleared this number.

We have no idea if the Steelers are any good at all after this Week 1 trashing they took from the San Francisco 49ers.

Look for Moore to clear this one whether Cooper plays or not, but grab it before the news comes out as it'll likely be around -115 if his teammate is declared inactive.

Saints vs. Panthers
Bryce Young over 9.5 rushing yards -110 ( Bet365 )

Had to get another quarterback rushing total in there, but Bryce Young ran for 15 yards in his debut and the Saints allowed quarterbacks to run at will in 2022 (24.2 rushing yards allowed per game average).

In an expected negative game script, Young should look to run a bit more often.

Michael Thomas to score a touchdown +250 ( FanDuel )

Who led the Saints in red zone targets in Week 1?

Not Chris Olave or Rashid Shaheed.

It was an old friend, Michael Thomas.

Thomas had three targets inside the 20 in Week 1 and the Panthers' secondary profiles as one of the worst in the league.

This is an obvious spot at long odds for the former Pro Bowl receiver to reclaim his past glory.

Saints vs. Panthers odds, prediction, pick: Bryce Young struggles on ‘MNF'

The Over/Under for New Orleans and Carolina has dropped several points since the opener, as both are coming off low-scoring games in Week 1.

The Saints held the Titans out of the end zone in a 16-15 home victory as Tennessee kicked five field goals.

New Orleans knocked down three field goals and picked up its only touchdown late in the third quarter on a Derek Carr scoring strike to wide receiver Rashid Shaheed.

It was a less-than-impressive debut for top-pick Bryce Young as the rookie was intercepted twice in a 24-10 defeat at Atlanta.

The only bright spot for the Panthers was their defense, which limited Atlanta to 221 yards of offense.

But Carolina's offense mustered just three points in the second half.

These NFC South rivals have played a nice string of low-scoring games recently as the Under is 5-0 of late in the series.

The Saints managed to score 21 points in their last two games at Bank of America Stadium, while getting blanked for the first three quarters in last year's 22-14 setback in Charlotte.

New Orleans is riding a 9-1 Under run dating back to last season, while the Panthers are 5-3 to the Under in their past eight home contests.

Both these defenses are solid and seeing how Young will need some time to adjust to the NFL, the Under in this Monday night game is worth a strong look.

THE PLAY: Saints-Panthers Under 39.5 (-105, FanDuel )
