San Antonio man allegedly slashed woman's throat, dumped her in pasture with ankle monitor on

In a shocking incident that has left the local community in San Antonio, Texas, reeling, a 31-year-old man named Roger Gonzalez has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing and slashing the throat of a woman before rolling her up in plastic and dumping her in a pasture. What makes this case even more disturbing is the fact that Gonzalez was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the alleged incident.

According to the Atascosa County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of an injured woman found on the side of Eichman Road at approximately 4 p.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, they discovered the woman in a severely beaten state, with multiple stab wounds and a slashed throat. In a chilling statement on Facebook, the sheriff's office revealed that the victim had been "left for dead rolled up in plastic in a pasture."

Miraculously, the woman was still alive and was rushed to a hospital in San Antonio, where she is currently listed in serious but stable condition. As investigators diligently followed leads throughout Friday night and Saturday morning, they were able to gather enough evidence to file a complaint and obtain an arrest warrant for Gonzalez. Shockingly, it was revealed that Gonzalez was wearing an ankle monitor during the alleged assault.

On Saturday afternoon, law enforcement officials arrested Gonzalez at a residence on Lytle Street, which interestingly enough, is the same street where the victim lives. Local outlet KENS5 reported that Gonzalez and the victim were in a relationship, shedding light on the potential motive behind this heinous crime.

Gonzalez now faces a first-degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Initially, his bond was set at $40,000, but after his arrest, the judge decided to raise it to $275,000. The Atascosa County Sheriff's Office made this update on Facebook, ensuring the community that Gonzalez is now in the custody of the Atascosa County Jail.

This horrific incident serves as a haunting reminder of the dangers faced by victims of domestic violence and the importance of effective monitoring systems. The fact that Gonzalez was able to carry out such a brutal attack while wearing an ankle monitor raises questions about the efficacy of these tracking devices. As the investigation continues, the community waits anxiously for justice to be served and for the victim to recover from this traumatic ordeal.
