Title: Kansas City Chiefs" Hype Man Arrested in Connection with Multi-State Bank Robbery Spree Subtitle: Xavier Babudar, aka ChiefsAholic, accused of committing string of robberies to fund high-flying lifestyle as a football fan Kansas City, MO - Xavier Babudar, also known as ChiefsAholic, the main hype man for the Kansas City Chiefs football team, has been arrested in California in connection with a series of bank robberies across six states. The 29-year-old is accused of stealing over $1 million from various banks and credit unions between April and December 2022. Babudar"s arrest came four months after he fled prosecution in Oklahoma for a separate bank robbery. He was apprehended near Sacramento on Friday and charged with one count of bank theft and one count of transporting stolen property across state lines. Federal agents allege that Babudar used the stolen money to fund his extravagant lifestyle, which included attending nearly every Chiefs game, both home and away. He managed successful warehouses across the Midwest, but prosecutors claim that his income came from illicit sources. Court documents reveal that Babudar purchased and redeemed over $1 million worth of chips from casinos in Missouri, Kansas, and Illinois. The transactions appeared to be connected to the stolen money. Authorities believe he laundered the robbery proceeds through area casinos and deposited the funds into various bank accounts. Following his arrest, investigators reviewed unsolved bank robberies in the Midwest during the same period and found that Babudar"s cell phone was in the same locations as the crimes. He is linked to four bank robberies in Nebraska, Iowa, Tennessee, and Oklahoma, as well as two attempted robberies of credit unions in Minnesota. Babudar"s first known robbery occurred in December 2022 when he allegedly stole $150,250 from a credit union in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was released on bail in February but removed his ankle monitor and went on the run in late March. Tracy Tiernan, Babudar"s attorney in Oklahoma, stated that he had not been in contact with his client since then. Tiernan described Babudar as someone who had faced hardships in life, including a lack of guidance from his father and struggles with homelessness. Babudar appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California on Tuesday, where a judge ordered him to remain in custody without bail until he could be transferred back to Missouri. The Tulsa County district attorney also plans to pursue prosecution in Oklahoma, where a new bond has been set at $1 million. For years, Babudar had been a fixture at Chiefs games, known for his exuberant persona and signature wolf costume. However, his arrest and subsequent criminal activities have tarnished his image as an enthusiastic and affable football fan. The investigation into Babudar"s case is ongoing, and a federal grand jury will determine whether additional charges will be brought against him.
