Former US Marine Ray Epps has filed a defamation lawsuit against Fox News and its former anchor Tucker Carlson, alleging that they promoted false claims about his role in the Capitol riots. Epps stated that the widespread conspiracy theory about his involvement in the events of January 6, 2021, forced him and his wife to sell their home and business and hire private security due to death threats. The lawsuit, filed in Delaware, comes after Fox settled a separate defamation case earlier this year with Dominion Voting Systems. Epps accuses Carlson of spreading falsehoods and working to stage-manage the riots. The lawsuit claims that Fox used Epps as a scapegoat for the events of January 6. Epps, who describes himself as a loyal Fox viewer and a two-time voter for Donald Trump, is seeking unspecified damages from the network. Fox News has yet to respond to the lawsuit.
