14:30 11.08.2023

Taylor Swift thrilled fans during her final show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, by announcing the release of her re-recorded album "1989 (Taylor's Version)" on October 27. The Grammy-Award-winning singer shared the news after performing her last show in the US this year on August 9. Swift teased the announcement by saying, "There's something that I've been planning for a really, really, really, ridiculously, embarrassingly long time, and instead of telling you about it, I think I'll just sort of show you." A graphic of the album cover appeared on a screen behind her, confirming the release.

Swift later took to social media to express her excitement about the project. She wrote, "Surprise!! 1989 (Taylor's Version) is on its way to you! The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27." The album will include hit songs such as "Shake It Off," "Bad Blood," and "Welcome to New York."

This re-recording marks Swift's fourth since she announced her battle over ownership of her masters. She has already released re-recorded versions of her albums "Fearless," "Speak Now," and "Red." Swift expressed her enthusiasm for "1989 (Taylor's Version)" by saying, "To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I've ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can't believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!"

Fans had been eagerly anticipating this announcement, and some noticed hints leading up to it. Swift wore blue outfits during her performances, symbolizing "1989," which is associated with the color blue. Additionally, her music videos contained clues, including references to the album number and hidden signs.

The re-recorded 1989 album will be available for pre-order on Swift's website in four special-edition deluxe CDs: "Crystal Skies Blue," "Rose Garden Pink," "Aquamarine Green," and "Sunrise Boulevard Yellow." It will also be issued in "Crystal Skies Blue" vinyl and cassettes.

While the first US leg of Swift's Eras Tour has concluded, she will soon embark on the international leg, starting in Mexico on August 24. She will tour Latin America, Asia, Australia, and Europe before returning to the US in 2024 for a second go-round.

Swift's re-recordings are part of her mission to regain control of her music. After talent agent Scooter Braun acquired the rights to her original recordings, Swift vowed to re-record her albums to reclaim ownership. Since then, she has released re-recorded versions of her past albums, with "1989 (Taylor's Version)" being the next in line.
