Hugh Douglas Jr., 20, along with his college roommate, Christion Files Jr., also 20, lost their lives after their vehicle crashed into a utility pole and flipped over in East Point, Georgia.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Monday, when Douglas and Files were attempting to pass another car at a high rate of speed. Unfortunately, Files lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and collide with two utility poles. The impact was so severe that both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

As news of the tragedy spread, the former NFL star took to social media to express his grief and pay tribute to his beloved son. Douglas shared multiple throwback photos of himself and his son on Twitter and Instagram, accompanied by heartbreaking captions. Hugh Douglas Jr. was a member of the Morehouse Business Association, an AltFinanceedu Fellow, and a Goldman Sachs Fellow. Christion Files Jr. was a co-captain of the track and field team and served as the media chair for the junior class council.
