Bears' Jaquan Brisker finds motivation in Stephen A. Smith's 'trash' comment

01:56 22.09.2023

In a week filled with disappointment for the Chicago Bears, their struggles on and off the field have caught the attention of ESPN's Stephen A. Smith. After starting the season with two consecutive losses, the Bears were heavily criticized by Smith, who labeled them as trash during his appearance on "First Take." The scathing remarks came as no surprise given the team's recent struggles.

The Bears' quarterback, Justin Fields, had initially blamed the coaching staff for his poor performances. However, he later clarified his comments, claiming they were taken out of context. Despite his attempt to downplay the situation, the Bears' poor performance on the field has only fueled the criticism.

Adding fuel to the fire, safety Jaquan Brisker liked a tweet that quoted Smith's harsh words about the team. When questioned about his actions, Brisker revealed that he found motivation in the negative noise surrounding the team. "I just really love the noise. Love everything about it," Brisker explained. "They're going to swallow their words pretty soon, so that's the reason why I favorited the tweet."

The Bears' struggles have been evident in their first two games of the season, where they were outscored 65-37 by the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Unfortunately for the Bears, their upcoming game against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs doesn't bode well for their chances of turning things around. The Bears are currently facing a 12.5-point underdog status, making them the largest point-spread of the week.

In addition to their on-field struggles, the Bears also faced turmoil off the field. Defensive coordinator Alan Williams resigned, citing health and family issues. Reports have also surfaced indicating that his home was raided by the FBI, further adding to the team's troubles.

As the Bears head into their game against the Chiefs this weekend, they will likely face an uphill battle to secure their first victory of the season. With odds stacked against them, it remains to be seen if the team can overcome the criticism and challenges they currently face.
