Migrant Allegedly Molests 7-Year-Old Girl in NYC Hotel Housing Asylum Seekers

02:31 30.09.2023

In a shocking turn of events, the migrant man accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl at a Queens hotel has been released from police custody. Investigators have determined that at least one relative coached the child to make up the story in an attempt to secure a larger room at the shelter. According to a senior law enforcement source, the 34-year-old man was let go after it was discovered that the family had rehearsed the false narrative with the young victim and her twin sister in order to incriminate their fellow resident and take over his room at the Hotel Mint JFK Airport in Far Rockaway.

The initial police report stated that the incident occurred when the sisters were playing in the hallway at around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The man allegedly convinced them to follow him to a room on the second floor, where he placed a knife against one of the girl's neck and touched her private area. When the twins' mother knocked on the door, the man escaped through the window, as per the initial account. However, further investigation revealed inconsistencies in the twins' story and their account appeared rehearsed, leading authorities to suspect foul play.

The suspect vehemently denied the allegations, prompting investigators to track his phone. It was determined that he was elsewhere when the alleged assault took place. Video surveillance also indicated that the suspect left the shelter at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday and did not return until 11:20 p.m., about two hours after the supposed crime. The footage showed no one entering or leaving the suspect's room during that period, which was corroborated by an interview with the man's wife.

Following these findings, the accused man was released from custody. Sources have since confirmed that a fight did occur between the suspect and a relative of the twins over room assignment. A hotel employee, who was not present during the incident, stated that the accused migrant had been staying at the hotel for 20 days and had never caused any issues. The employee expressed confusion as to why someone would falsely accuse another person, particularly in such a serious matter.

A young married couple from Venezuela, who have been sheltered at the Hotel Mint JFK Airport for the past three nights, reported hearing some commotion on the night of the incident but were unaware of the exact details. They described the conditions at the hotel as wild and troubling, having previously relocated from another shelter due to unsafe conditions.

The incident has shed light on the dire conditions faced by asylum seekers housed at the hotel. Stuart Warburton, his wife Kim, and mother Maureen, who are from the UK, have been staying at the hotel for two weeks and described the conditions as appalling. They claimed to have booked the hotel thinking it was an airport hotel, but were shocked by the state of the facilities. According to Mr. Warburton, there were frequent disturbances involving children and parents who would leave their kids unsupervised in the hallways at night.

The Hotel Mint JFK Airport acts as a shelter for asylum seekers while also accepting bookings from other customers. Annette, a 71-year-old neighbor, described the recent conditions at the hotel as "lawlessness," with clothes hanging out of windows and disturbances occurring nightly. She expressed concern for the children living there and called for intervention.

This incident follows several other incidents of domestic violence involving asylum seekers at different shelters in New York City. It highlights the need for better safeguards and support for those seeking refuge in the country. The NYPD continues to investigate the false accusation and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
