Tennessee teacher accused of raping child arrested again for threatening victim

A Tennessee teacher who was previously charged with raping a 12-year-old student has been rearrested on Thursday for allegedly texting the victim and warning him about reporting her to the police. Alissa McCommon, a 38-year-old former fourth-grade educator at Charger Academy, was taken into custody at her Covington home and has been charged with aggravated stalking, harassment, and coercion, just three weeks after being arrested on rape accusations. The city police department revealed that McCommon had been released on a $25,000 bond under the condition that she ceases all communication with the boy she is accused of raping in 2021. However, she allegedly attempted to bypass this condition by sending messages to the victim from an unknown phone number.

According to a statement released by the Covington police, evidence indicated that McCommon used a specific code word known to the juvenile to confirm that he was alone before sending him nude photographs on Snapchat. The statement also revealed that the mother of two sent a series of messages warning the boy that he would "regret doing this." Shockingly, during the text exchange, McCommon allegedly admitted to having a sexual encounter with the victim. Disturbed by the incident, the victim immediately reported the harassment to the police, who promptly arrested the teacher on the same day.

"The actions of McCommon are not only appalling, but CPD is also concerned about this apparent violation of her bond conditions. Due to the nature of the communications, we are concerned others may have been contacted," stated Covington Police Chief Donna Turner, expressing her concerns about the case. As a result of her rearrest, McCommon has been rebooked into the Tipton County Jail, where she is currently being held without bond.

This is not the only instance of alleged misconduct involving McCommon. In addition to the sexual assault accusations made by her former student, she is also accused of engaging in inappropriate relationships with other former students online. Police have revealed that she sent them inappropriate photos and even requested to have sex with them. These allegations came to light when a parent came forward with the claims, which led to McCommon's removal from her position at Charger Academy without pay on August 24.

Despite the mounting evidence and charges against her, McCommon maintains her innocence. Her defense attorney has gone as far as claiming that social media is carrying out a "witch hunt" against her. However, authorities are continuing to investigate the case and work closely with the District Attorney's Office to determine the revocation of McCommon's bond and any additional charges that may arise. The Covington Police Chief emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that they are committed to ensuring justice is served in this troubling case.
