A shooting in North Philadelphia has left two men dead and five others hospitalized on Tuesday night, in what police believe to be a drug-related incident. The incident took place at around 8:30 p.m. in the area of 6th Street and Allegheny Avenue. Reports of shots being fired prompted police to respond to the scene, where they found four wounded men lying on the ground.

Interim Police Commissioner John Stanford addressed the media, revealing that the victims ranged in age from 19 to 32 or 33. The four injured men were immediately rushed to Temple University Hospital for treatment. Tragically, two of them succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the hospital. The conditions of the other three victims who walked into separate hospitals, namely Temple Hospital, Episcopal Hospital, and Einstein Medical Center, are currently unknown.

The severity of the incident became apparent as authorities discovered that at least 70 shots were fired during the shooting. Additionally, law enforcement recovered a total of five firearms, including four handguns and a long gun, at the crime scene. Investigators strongly suspect the involvement of multiple shooters in this violent act.

"This is a block that has had some narcotic activity," stated Commissioner Stanford. "This isn't a block that we aren't familiar with. With that being said, I would say it's probably something connected to a narcotics trade, but I'm not going to say that with 100% certainty."

The shooting has prompted a thorough investigation by law enforcement in an effort to apprehend those responsible and gather more information about the motive behind the attack. The Philadelphia Police Department is working tirelessly to piece together the events that led to this tragic outcome.
