Tim Allen's daughter roasts him: "He won't watch any other Santa Claus movies other than himself'

Veteran actor Tim Allen, known for his roles in Home Improvement and the Toy Story franchise, has no plans to retire anytime soon. In a recent interview, he referenced the late sports commentator and NFL coach John Madden, who famously said, "I've never worked a day in my life." Allen echoed this sentiment, stating that he can't imagine retirement and that he still enjoys performing standup comedy concerts.

Allen's career began in 1973 when he took a dare to perform at a Detroit comedy club. Since then, he has created some of Hollywood's most iconic characters, including Tim Taylor in Home Improvement and Buzz Lightyear in "Toy Story." In 2004, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which he considered a validation of his success and a tribute to his fans, friends, and family.

In addition to his notable roles in "Jungle 2 Jungle," "Last Man Standing," and "Christmas with the Kranks," Allen is best known for his portrayal of Santa Claus in "The Santa Clause" movies. He recently reprised the role in Disney+'s "The Santa Clauses," which is currently airing its second season. Allen expressed his enthusiasm for the character, stating that he can't imagine retiring from playing Santa and that he feels younger when dressed up as the jolly old man.

On "The Santa Clauses," Allen stars alongside Elizabeth Mitchell, Austin Kane, newcomer Eric Stonestreet, and his real-life daughter, Elizabeth Allen-Dick. During a joint interview, Allen-Dick shared her father's advice about acting, emphasizing the importance of adding value to one's performance. However, she also playfully roasted her famous dad, revealing that they only watch his Santa Claus movies during the holiday season.

Allen admitted that he prefers watching his own portrayal of Santa Claus and jokingly explained that he gets "kind of proprietary" about the character. He praised the director, John Pasquin, for adding depth and heart to Scott Calvin, the character he plays, making it more than just a comedy. Allen believes that the flaws and emotional side of Scott Calvin make him a relatable and beloved character.

As for the Santa Claus suit itself, Allen shared that the costume and makeup team have made improvements over the years, making it more comfortable to wear. He recalled the early days when it took over three hours to get into the heavy and hot fat suit. Now, it only takes about an hour and a half, which he appreciates.

Despite his success and longevity in the industry, Allen remains humble and grateful for the opportunity to do what he loves. Retirement is not on his radar, and he continues to bring joy to audiences with his performances as Santa Claus. Fans can catch new episodes of "The Santa Clauses" on Disney+ every Wednesday.
