Miss Universe judge targeted with death threats post-debate clash

18:07 25.11.2023

In a shocking turn of events, Miss Universe judge Emily Austin has revealed that she received a barrage of death threats following a heated on-air confrontation with Palestinian activist Nerdeen Kiswani. The incident occurred during an appearance on "Piers Morgan Uncensored" on October 24, where the two engaged in a heated discussion about the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The segment quickly took a turn for the worse when Austin confronted Kiswani, questioning the authenticity of intel that claimed an Islamic Jihad's failed rocket launch was responsible for the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital blast in Gaza City. Austin also asked Kiswani if she condemned the 9/11 attacks, a line of questioning that angered the Palestinian activist, who deemed it "ridiculous."

Throughout the confrontation, Kiswani repeatedly turned to Piers Morgan, questioning why he was not the one asking the questions. She also referred to Austin as a "genocide denier," a label that Austin vehemently denied and dismissed as "child's play." According to Austin, Kiswani had instigated online harassment against her by posting a picture of her with a red triangle over her head, which she considered a threat.

"I really tried to keep it fact-based, unemotional, like this is what this is. She was yelling. She was talking over me, threatening me on Instagram with, like, a red arrow over my head, telling people how funny it was to put a bounty on my head. That's not so funny," Austin told Fox News Digital.

The situation escalated further when it was revealed that Kiswani is the leader of Within Our Lifetime-United for Palestine (WOL), a radical New York-based group known for expressing support for violence against Israel. Kiswani has openly called for the vilification and expulsion of Zionists from community spaces and has advocated for the dissolution of Israel. She gained notoriety after delivering a commencement speech for CUNY Law in May 2022, where she excoriated Zionists and condemned trips to Israel as "normalizing."

Austin expressed her disbelief and embarrassment upon discovering that Kiswani is also a lawyer. However, the aftermath of the interview brought more distressing revelations for Austin. She received numerous direct messages on social media, filled with threats, intimidation, and harassment. Some messages threatened her life, with one user writing, "I will find you and sell you. A Jew like you in Gaza will be expensive $$$." Others resorted to hateful language, calling her names such as "stupid Jewish b-h" and "f-ing lying piece of s-t."

The severity of the threats escalated, with some accounts suggesting physical harm and even death. One user expressed, "You will be killed in the next days," while another posted pictures of Austin with messages that read "Watch your back" and "I'm gonna get you." The harassment did not stop at Austin, as her mother also received malicious text messages.

Disturbed by the alarming nature of the threats, Austin reached out to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and hired personal security. The FBI has taken immediate action, investigating every direct message and post related to the threats. Austin expressed her gratitude for their responsiveness, stating, "I'm really thankful they're so hands-on and one phone call away 24/7."

In light of the heightened security concerns, major American cities have implemented increased security measures, particularly in response to a "Day of Rage" organized by Hamas. This event has garnered the attention of the FBI, who are closely monitoring potential threats. Concerns have been raised by council members and members of Congress, leading to an investigation into the online harassment aimed at Austin.

Despite the distress caused by the threats, Austin remains resolute, refusing to succumb to fear. She has chosen to speak out about the situation, highlighting the urgent need to address online harassment and threats faced by journalists and activists. Nerdeen Kiswani, however, did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
