In a surprising turn of events during the CBS live broadcast of the Chiefs-Bills game on Sunday, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo mistakenly referred to Taylor Swift as Travis Kelce's "wife." Romo's blunder occurred during the second quarter when the camera cut to a video of Swift cheering from her box after Kelce made a catch. "You can see Kelce's wife Taylor Swift in the audience," Romo said on air before quickly correcting himself, "I'm sorry, girlfriend." Co-host Jim Nantz chimed in, humorously saying, "Not yet. You don't know something we don't know, do you?"

This accidental slip-up by Romo has sent both Swift's fans, known as Swifties, and Kelce's supporters into a frenzy on social media. One user commented, "Tony Romo has made a TV career out of knowing what will happen next. He may have just done it again." Another user simply exclaimed, "I SCREAMEEEEEDDDDDD."

This isn't the first time Romo has caused a stir with his commentary. During the Cowboys-Commanders game on November 23, he referred to co-host Jim Nantz as "sexy," which left fans expressing their discontent with his broadcast style.

Swift recently confirmed in her Time Person of the Year interview that she and the Chiefs' tight end have been romantically involved since July. She revealed that their relationship began after Kelce playfully mentioned her on his podcast, which she found "metal as hell." The couple was first linked in September and made their relationship public the following month when they were photographed holding hands in New York City.

Despite the speculation, rumors of a wedding between Swift and Kelce seem premature. The incident with Romo's mistaken comment comes just one week after Swift's publicist, Tree Paine, shut down rumors that Swift had already married her longtime boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. Paine took to X, formerly Twitter, to express her frustration, stating, "Enough is enough with these fabricated lies about Taylor from Deuxmoi. There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind. Romo's flub may have gotten Tayvis Nation, the collective name for Swift and Kelce fans, a little too hopeful during the matchup. Swift, although not yet wearing Kelce's jersey, has shown her support by donning fashionable Chiefs gear at the games she has attended so far. This past week was a significant one for Swift, as she was named Time's "Person of the Year." In her interview, she opened up about her relationship with Kelce, stating, "By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. When you say a relationship is public, that means I'm going to see him do what he loves, we're showing up for each other, other people are there, and we don't care.
