Reality TV star Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, known for her appearances on Toddlers And Tiaras and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, has tragically passed away at the age of 29 after a battle with stage four adrenal cancer. Cardwell died peacefully at her mother “Mama June” Shannon's home on Saturday night, surrounded by her family.
Cardwell's mother, Mama June Shannon, took to social media to announce the heartbreaking news, writing, "She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months... she passed away with her family around her. We love y'all and continued prayers and thoughts for our family during this difficult time." Shannon had previously discussed her daughter's diagnosis in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, revealing that Cardwell had undergone four rounds of chemotherapy.
Cardwell's sister, Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, also shared a tribute to her late sister on Instagram, saying, "Last night we all surrounded Anna with love and let her know it was okay to go. Unfortunately, around 11pm Anna took her last breath. Anna was in so much pain last night but now as a family, we all know she is at peace now." Thompson expressed her grief, stating that her "heart is completely broken."
Cardwell leaves behind two young daughters, Kaitlyn and Kylee. She had become a familiar face on reality TV, appearing alongside her family, including her half-sisters Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, and Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson. The family gained national attention and a reality show after appearing on Toddlers And Tiaras, and later starred in Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
Mama June Shannon had previously shared updates on Cardwell's health through social media, acknowledging the difficult journey they were facing. In one post, Shannon asked for prayers and support from their followers, stating that they appreciated the thoughts and prayers during this time. She later posted a video on TikTok, explaining that they were going through a transition and asking for continued prayers for Anna and the family.
Cardwell's passing comes after a long battle with cancer, with Shannon revealing in an interview that the cancer was terminal. Despite the heartbreaking prognosis, the family remained hopeful and took each day as it came. Shannon expressed her love for her followers and promised to update them when the time came, as it was what Anna would have wanted.
