Woman Allegedly Involved in Abduction and Murder of U.S. Activist Arrested in Colombia

In a shocking turn of events, a woman believed to be involved in the abduction and subsequent murder of U.S. activist Tou Ger Xiong has been arrested by Colombian police, according to reports. The woman, who remains unidentified, was apprehended on Wednesday in connection with the brutal death of Xiong, a 50-year-old Asian American man from Woodbury, Minnesota. His lifeless body was discovered with multiple stab wounds and discarded in a ravine in La Corcovada, located northwest of Medell?n.

Xiong had arranged to meet the woman on Sunday, only to be forcibly taken by a group of men who demanded a ransom for his release. Tragically, before any payment could be made, Xiong's lifeless body was found. The details surrounding the woman's arrest and her specific role in the crime are currently unknown, but reports indicate that she is now in police custody.

Efforts to gather more information from Colombian authorities and the U.S. Embassy in Colombia have been unsuccessful thus far, leaving many questions unanswered. While the State Department has confirmed Xiong's passing, no further details regarding the circumstances of his death have been provided.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Xiong's brother, Eh Xiong, revealed that his younger sibling was acquainted with the woman he had arranged to meet. Furthermore, photographs posted by Xiong on social media have surfaced, showing him posing with beautiful women during his travels in South America. It is unclear whether the woman who was seen in these photos is the same woman who has been arrested, or if she had any involvement in Xiong's tragic fate.

Tou Ger Xiong, originally from Laos, spent a significant part of his childhood in a refugee camp in Thailand. He was deeply involved in Minnesota's Hmong community and dedicated his efforts to promoting Hmong culture and combating racism. Xiong's days were spent engaging in day trading while residing with a friend in Colombia, and his evenings were filled with visits to local restaurants and bars.

Eh Xiong believes that his brother's trusting nature and his belief in the inherent goodness of people may have contributed to his untimely demise. He described his brother as someone who saw the best in everyone and rarely worried about his own safety. This unwavering trust in others may have ultimately led to his tragic end.

Tou Ger Xiong's commitment to his Hmong heritage was commendable. He actively educated others about his origins and co-founded organizations such as Community Action Against Racism and the Hmong American Partnership. In recognition of his efforts, he was named a Bush Foundation fellow in 2019, highlighting his role as a catalyst for change and his dedication to amplifying the voices of his community.

In one of his last Facebook posts, Xiong urged his followers to embrace life's changes and cautioned against harboring negative emotions such as anger and revenge. Instead, he advocated for self-love, forgiveness, and compassion. These words now hold an even deeper significance in light of his tragic fate.

Tou Ger Xiong's family intends to honor his memory by establishing a foundation in his name. Through this foundation, they hope to provide scholarships and assistance to those in need, continuing Xiong's mission of uplifting and supporting his community.

As investigations into Xiong's abduction and murder continue, his family remains confident in the Colombian police's ability to bring the perpetrators to justice. While they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother, they also choose to celebrate his impactful contributions to society and his unwavering dedication to creating a better world for all.
