In a shocking case that has left the community of Norton Shores, Michigan stunned, a jury has found Shanda Vander Ark guilty of murder and child abuse in the starvation death of her disabled 15-year-old son, Timothy Ferguson. The jury's decision came after just over an hour of deliberation in Muskegon County Circuit Court.

Timothy's emaciated body, weighing a mere 69 pounds, was discovered on July 6, 2022. An autopsy revealed that the teenager died as a result of malnourishment and hypothermia, with the medical examiner ruling his death a homicide. The disturbing details of his mistreatment were revealed throughout the trial, leaving many observers in disbelief.

During the trial, video footage shown by Court TV depicted Vander Ark becoming violently ill after being presented with photos of her son's emaciated state. The emotional toll of the trial was evident, as Vander Ark was too sick to attend the courtroom when the jury reached their verdict.
