Daughter's Scathing Obituary Exposes Mother's Violent, Hateful, and Cruel Nature

11:27 24.12.2023

In a shocking turn of events, a Michigan woman has penned a scathing obituary about her late mother, accusing her of a multitude of abuses and wrongdoings. Gayle Harvey Heckman, the 54-year-old daughter, described her mother, Linda Lernal Harvey Cullum Smith Stull, as being "mentally, emotionally, verbally, and financially" abusive. The obituary, which was published on 15 December in Three Rivers News, has since been taken down by the publication due to its spiteful nature.

In the obituary, Heckman did not hold back in her accusations against her mother. She detailed how Stull had physically and mentally abused her throughout her life, even accusing her of condoning sexual assault against her. Heckman also claimed that Stull had lied about the identity of her biological father. These shocking revelations prompted the publication to remove the obituary after receiving numerous complaints from readers about its disturbing content.

Speaking to the Sturgis Journal, Heckman explained her motivation for writing the obituary. She expressed her desire to clear her name after Stull had spent years concocting reasons for why her daughter was not in her life. Heckman believed it was time to set the record straight and reclaim her identity. She emphasized that her intention was not to be hateful but rather to express her anger and break the cycle of generational trauma.

The publication's publisher, Mike Wilcox, admitted that the obituary was published without careful consideration. He acknowledged the complaints received and promptly removed the obituary from the website. However, Heckman expressed disappointment with the decision, stating that she and her husband had only contacted the publisher twice.

Despite the controversial nature of the obituary, Heckman found solace in writing it. She described it as a cathartic experience, allowing her to release her pent-up emotions. The support she received from others, who reached out with their own stories of abuse, helped fill the void in her heart.

While it is uncommon for obituaries to contain such scathing remarks, Heckman's obituary sheds light on the deep-seated pain and trauma she experienced at the hands of her mother. It serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing and breaking the cycle of abuse within families and communities.
