At least one person was killed and five others were wounded in a shooting at a Waffle House restaurant in Indianapolis early Monday morning, following a weekend of US gun violence. The incident occurred at the southside Waffle House around 12:30 am, after an altercation between two groups escalated into gunfire. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene and found five people with apparent gunshot wounds, including a critically injured woman who later died at the hospital.

The remaining victims, three men and one woman, were described as stable. Another man in critical condition was later found to be a sixth gunshot victim, either self-transported or assisted to the hospital. Homicide detectives are investigating the incident and are reviewing any available video surveillance footage. It is unclear at this point if any of the injured individuals were also involved in firing shots.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency is collecting evidence, and anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Douglas Morning or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. The shooting at the Waffle House in Indianapolis adds to the recent wave of gun violence in the US, following a deadly mass shooting at a celebration for the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl victory. Police have not yet identified any suspects in the Waffle House shooting, and the condition of the other four victims remains unknown.
