The tragic incident that unfolded in Burnsville, Minnesota, over the weekend has left the community in shock and mourning. Shannon Cortez Gooden, a 38-year-old man who fatally shot two police officers and a first responder during a standoff, was identified as the shooter by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. Gooden, who was armed with several guns and a large amount of ammunition, barricaded himself inside a home with seven children between the ages of 2 and 15.

The officers, Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, along with emergency medical technician Adam Finseth, were responding to a domestic violence call when they were shot and killed by Gooden.
