Missouri woman's 1989 cold case murder solved after person comes forward with "rock-solid" tip; 3 men arrested

11:45 25.02.2024

Authorities in Missouri have announced a major breakthrough in a 35-year-old cold case involving the brutal killing of 24-year-old Kelle Ann Workman. Workman went missing on June 30, 1989, and her body was found eight days later in a national forest in Christian County. Three men, Bobby Banks, Leonard Banks, and Wiley Belt, have now been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and rape in connection with the case. The arrests came after a tipster, who had been holding onto crucial information for almost three decades, came forward to authorities. Douglas County Prosecuting Attorney Matt Weatherman described the information as "rock-solid," and expressed confidence in the case, stating that they will have live witnesses testify in court. Pam Workman, Kelle's sister, had long suspected the involvement of Bobby Lee Banks and Leonard Banks in the crime. She expressed relief that the case has finally been solved and justice may be served. The family of Kelle Workman, who never thought they would see this day come, is grateful for the closure this development brings. The suspects are currently being held on a $250,000 cash bond each, with a court hearing scheduled for March 5. The authorities did not provide details about the tipster who came forward, but emphasized the importance of their information in finally cracking the case.
