Kanye West is facing a lawsuit from the estate of the late singer Donna Summer for allegedly using a sample of her 1977 hit "I Feel Love" without permission. Despite being denied permission to use the sample, West and collaborator Ty Dolla $ign went ahead and used it in their track "Good (Don't Die)." The lawsuit, filed by Summer's husband Bruce Sudano, accuses West of engaging in "blatant theft" and includes re-recorded parts of Summer's iconic song that were "instantly recognizable." The estate is seeking compensatory damages, maximum statutory damages, attorneys' fees, and an injunction to block any further distribution of the infringing song. This is not the first time West has been accused of using someone else's music without permission, as earlier this month Ozzy Osbourne claimed West used a Black Sabbath sample without permission. The lawsuit aims to protect Donna Summer's musical legacy and influential work in the music industry. The song "Good (Don't Die)" has been removed from music streaming platforms, and the estate is seeking justice for the unauthorized use of Summer's music. Ye and Ty Dolla $ign have yet to comment on the lawsuit.
