Flight out of San Francisco makes emergency landing in Los Angeles in 4th United Airlines mishap this week

15:37 09.03.2024

A United Airlines flight from San Francisco to Mexico City was diverted to Los Angeles on Friday after an issue with the plane's hydraulic system. This marked the fourth emergency involving a United Airlines flight in just one week. The Airbus 320, carrying 105 passengers and five crew members, landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport and everyone disembarked at a gate. The airline stated that customers were flown to Mexico City International Airport on a different aircraft.

The Federal Aviation Administration announced that they will investigate the incident. This emergency landing came after a series of other incidents involving United Airlines flights. Earlier in the week, a tire fell off a United flight departing from San Francisco, and another aircraft skidded off a runway in Houston, Texas. Additionally, an engine caught fire midair on a flight to Fort Myers, Texas, forcing the plane to turn around.

United Airlines emphasized that each of these events is distinct and unrelated to one another. The airline stated that they take every safety event seriously and will investigate each incident to understand what happened and learn from them. Safety is their top priority, and they will continue to work with manufacturers, the FAA, and the NTSB to ensure the safety of their customers and employees.
