Severe storms with probable tornadoes wreaked havoc across several central U.S. states, leaving a trail of destruction and claiming the lives of at least three people, with more casualties expected to be discovered, authorities confirmed. The devastation was particularly severe in Ohio, where three deaths were reported in Logan County. The storms also caused significant damage in Kentucky, Indiana, and Arkansas, with tornadoes suspected in Illinois and Missouri as well.

In Winchester, Indiana, a suspected tornado hit, causing many significant injuries and damaging a Walmart store and a Taco Bell restaurant. The town of Selma in Delaware County, Indiana, also suffered damage from a possible tornado, with minor injuries reported. The Winchester school district was closed, and a shelter was opened for displaced individuals.

In Ohio's Logan County, villages like Lakeview and Russells Point were hit by a suspected tornado, resulting in lots of injuries and significant damage to homes and businesses. The community of Lakeview was described as "completely demolished" by the president and CEO of the Indian Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, with homes, campgrounds, and a laundromat all affected.

Further west in Ohio, a deadly tornado struck near Indian Lake, leaving at least two people dead and causing heavy damage in several areas. The full extent of the destruction was still being assessed, with multiple buildings damaged in the Indian Lake area. In Hanover, Kentucky, homes were destroyed, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The storm system also impacted Madison, Indiana, where authorities were working to confirm reports of fatalities from a tornado. Significant damage was reported in Winchester, Indiana, with the National Weather Service indicating that it was likely the most significant damage in the region. Forecasters planned to survey the area to confirm the tornado's impact.

As the sun rose on Friday, emergency response personnel were on the ground assessing the extent of the destruction, with power outages affecting thousands of residents. The National Weather Service issued tornado watches for several states, warning of the possibility of severe weather continuing into the night. The affected communities were left reeling from the devastation, with residents and officials alike expressing shock and disbelief at the scale of the destruction.
