Tragic Death: Woman Crushed by Conveyor Belt Trying to Retrieve AirPod

12:50 15.03.2024

A tragic incident occurred at Club Car, a golf cart manufacturer in Augusta, Georgia, resulting in the death of 21-year-old contract worker Alyssa Drinkard. Drinkard lost her life after getting caught in a conveyor belt chain while trying to retrieve her dropped AirPod during her shift at the company's plant in Evans. Fae"Zsha Smith, who was working alongside Drinkard, witnessed the horrifying event and described how Drinkard's arm was caught in the machine, leading to a substantial amount of blood. Despite Smith's efforts to help, she was unable to free Drinkard, prompting a call for maintenance to shut down the machine and emergency responders to be called. The responders were able to extract Drinkard from the machine by cutting the metal frame and performed life-saving measures before transporting her to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Club Car expressed their condolences and stated that they are cooperating with authorities to investigate the incident. Smith, who was traumatized by the event, remembered Drinkard as a sweet individual who always had a smile on her face. Drinkard's relatives could not be reached for comment, and Smith expressed concerns about returning to work due to safety worries. The company, known for its golf carts, has been recognized for its safety measures in the past. The tragic death of Alyssa Drinkard serves as a reminder of the importance of workplace safety and the devastating consequences that can result from a seemingly simple accident.
