Mystery surrounds disappearance of Mizzou student Riley Strain

17:02 18.03.2024

Authorities in Tennessee are intensifying the search for 22-year-old University of Missouri student Riley Strain, who disappeared after being asked to leave Luke's 32 Bridge, a bar in downtown Nashville owned by country singer Luke Bryan, 10 days ago. Strain, who was on a weekend trip to Nashville with his fraternity brothers, was last seen on March 8 after purchasing one alcoholic drink and two waters at the bar. Security footage shows him leaving the bar alone at 9:38 p.m. and crossing a street at 9:47 p.m. before disappearing. Strain's friends and family have been unable to reach him since his disappearance, prompting a widespread search effort by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

The search has led authorities to a riverbank near where Strain was last seen, with his bank card being found in the area. Despite his cell phone being turned off, the last known location was traced to a cell tower near the Cumberland River. The Tennessee Alcohol and Beverage Commission is investigating the incident, as there are no specific rules governing the escorting of intoxicated patrons out of establishments. Luke Bryan, the bar owner, has expressed his concern for Strain's safety and is cooperating with the police investigation by providing security camera footage.

Family friend Chris Dingman revealed that two homeless encampments have confirmed seeing Strain in the area where his phone last pinged, adding to the mystery of his disappearance. Police have stated that there are currently no signs of foul play, but the search efforts by water and air continue. Strain's parents have also joined the search in Nashville, with his stepfather describing the situation as their worst nightmare. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are urging anyone with information about Strain's whereabouts to come forward.
