07:28 04.04.2024

Juan Vicente Perez Mora, the world's oldest man, has passed away at the age of 114, just two months before his 115th birthday. The Venezuelan supercentenarian was confirmed as the oldest living man by Guinness World Records on February 4, 2022, at the age of 112 years and 253 days. President Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela paid tribute to Perez, stating that he had "transcended into eternity" and sending his condolences to the family and the people of El Cobre, Tachira state.

Perez, who lived through two World Wars and various pandemics, attributed his long life to hard work, rest, faith, and a daily glass of aguardiente. He and his wife, Ediofina del Rosario Garcia, were married for 60 years and had 11 children, 42 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Freddy Bernal, the governor of Tachira, described Perez as a humble, hard-working man who was enthusiastic about family and tradition.

The world's next oldest living man is expected to be Gisaburo Sonobe of Japan, aged 112, pending confirmation from his family. Perez's death marks the end of an era for Venezuela and the world, as he leaves behind a legacy of optimism, faith, and love for his family and community. His remarkable life and longevity will be remembered for generations to come.
