California Dog Missing Since Summer Found in Michigan

09:35 05.04.2024

A heartwarming story of a lost dog making an incredible journey from California to Michigan has captured the attention of animal lovers everywhere. Mishka, a terrier mix, went missing from her owner's workplace in San Diego last July, sparking a frantic search effort by her family. Despite putting up over a thousand flyers and wearing her leash while searching, Mishka remained elusive.

However, fate had other plans for Mishka, as she was found more than 2,000 miles away in suburban Detroit last week. A resident of Harper Woods called the police about a stray dog in the neighborhood, and Mishka was taken to the Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society. Thanks to an identity chip implanted in her, the adoption group was able to track down her owners, Mehrad Houman and his family.

Mehrad, who was in Minneapolis with his family for Easter, immediately drove 10 hours to Michigan for a heartwarming reunion with Mishka. The adoption group posted pictures and a video on Facebook showing the emotional moment when Mishka was finally back in the arms of her family. Veterinarian Nancy Pillsbury examined Mishka and confirmed that she was in good health, despite her long journey.

The mystery of how Mishka ended up in Michigan remains unsolved, with the director of the animal welfare group speculating that she may have been stolen and sold before ending up so far from home. Regardless of the circumstances, Mishka's incredible journey has touched the hearts of many, with the adoption group calling it a story that Hollywood would love to tell. Elizabeth Houman, Mishka's owner, expressed her gratitude for the support and never giving up hope of finding her beloved pet.
