10-year-old Texas boy confesses to killing man 2 years ago

A shocking revelation has come to light in the case of the unsolved murder of Brandon O'Quinn Rasberry in Nixon, Texas in 2022. A 10-year-old boy has confessed to authorities that he was the one who fatally shot Rasberry while he slept in an RV park. The child, who was just shy of his eighth birthday at the time of the crime, told investigators that he used his grandfather's gun to commit the murder.

The case had gone cold until recently when the child made comments at school about the incident, prompting a threat assessment by authorities. The child described in detail how he obtained the pistol from his grandfather's truck, entered Rasberry's RV, and shot him once in the head before leaving and returning the gun to the glove box. The child claimed he had never met Rasberry before and had no reason to be mad at him.

Investigators were able to track down the gun used in the murder at a pawn shop and matched shell casings from the scene to the weapon. However, due to Texas law stating that a child under the age of 10 cannot be held criminally responsible, the child cannot be charged in connection to the homicide. Instead, he is being held in juvenile detention for making a terroristic threat against another student on a school bus.

Family members of the victim expressed shock and disbelief upon learning that a 7-year-old child was responsible for the senseless murder of their loved one. The child's future court date will address the charges related to the school bus incident, while the case of Brandon Rasberry's death remains closed without the possibility of criminal charges against the young boy.
