New York City police have apprehended a 25-year-old man suspected of carrying out a shooting spree on a scooter in Brooklyn and Queens on Sunday. The incident resulted in the death of an 87-year-old man and left three other men injured. The suspect, who was riding an illegal scooter, fired at random individuals without any apparent motive or connection to the victims. Assistant Chief Joseph Kenny of the New York City Police Department stated during a press conference that video evidence showed the suspect firing randomly while driving on the scooter, without targeting or following anyone. The first incident was captured on video and promptly shared with all police officers in the area, leading to the suspect"s arrest less than two hours later on a main road. Upon apprehension, officers discovered a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine and additional ammunition in the suspect"s possession. The deceased victim was identified as 87-year-old Hamod Ali Saeidi, who was known for his daily walks to check in on family and friends. The other victims included a 44-year-old man in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the cheek, a 63-year-old man in stable condition after being shot in the shoulder, and a 21-year-old man with a shoulder injury that was not as serious. The suspect also fired at a group of people but missed. The police did not release the suspect"s identity but disclosed that he had a prior arrest on his record. Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the shooting spree.
