On Thursday, Trump's lawyers met with federal prosecutors in Washington DC as they prepare for the potential of another criminal indictment. Trump claimed that the meeting was “productive” and insisted that he had done nothing wrong. However, he also criticized the media's coverage of the investigation.

The lawyers' meeting with the special counsel's office comes after Trump revealed on social media that he had received a target letter, indicating that he is the target of the investigation into efforts to interfere with the election and the peaceful transfer of power. This letter is seen as a sign that the investigation is reaching its final stages. The target letter highlights three federal statutes, including conspiracy to commit an offense or to defraud the US, obstruction of an official proceeding, and tampering with a witness. These charges are commonly seen in the Justice Department's probe into the Capitol attack on January 6th.

This potential indictment adds to Trump's legal troubles, as he already faces charges in New York over a hush money payment made in 2016 and in Fulton County, Georgia, for alleged attempts to overturn the election results in the state. The investigation in Georgia has recently concluded, and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is expected to announce decisions regarding any charges this summer.

It is worth noting that Trump has previously declined the opportunity to appear before a grand jury in relation to the previous two indictments against him.
