Wisconsin Woman Convicted of Gruesome Murder and Dismemberment of Ex-Boyfriend

18:55 28.07.2023

In a shocking turn of events, Taylor Schabusiness, a 25-year-old woman from Green Bay, Wisconsin, has been found guilty of the murder and dismemberment of her former boyfriend, Shad Thyrion. The jury deliberated for less than an hour before convicting Schabusiness of homicide, third-degree sexual abuse, and mutilating a corpse.

Throughout the trial, Schabusiness displayed disturbing behavior, openly laughing and smirking in court, even when graphic evidence was presented. She also attacked her defense attorney, Quinn Jolly, during a hearing in February 2023.

Authorities revealed that Schabusiness strangled Thyrion at his Green Bay home before sexually abusing him and dismembering his body. Body parts were scattered throughout the house and in a vehicle. Thyrion's mother discovered his decapitated head in a bucket in the basement, prompting her to call 911.

During cross-examination, Schabusiness admitted to having illicit drugs at the crime scene. However, law enforcement testified that she did not appear to be under the influence at the time of her arrest and was able to answer questions and engage in conversation.

The jury's decision that Schabusiness was not mentally ill during the commission of the crimes means that she will not be eligible for sentencing in a mental asylum. Instead, she will face a prison sentence. The sentencing is scheduled for September 26.

Schabusiness's mental state was a point of contention throughout the trial. She was evaluated at the Brown County Jail in 2022 and 2023, where she was found to suffer from various mental afflictions. Diane Lytton, an independent psychologist who testified for the defense, described Schabusiness as a "psychotic person." However, the prosecution argued that her mental state at the time of the crime was the crucial factor, not her mental health in 2021.

In closing arguments, Brown County District Attorney David Lasee characterized the case as bizarre but maintained that Schabusiness was responsible for Thyrion's death. Defense attorney Christopher Froelich contended that the facts of the case were unclear and puzzling.

This case has captivated the public due to the gruesome nature of the crime and Schabusiness's chilling behavior during the trial. As the sentencing date approaches, the community awaits the final verdict in this tragic and disturbing case.
