Giants hopeful for Andrew Thomas' return, Azeez Ojulari set to come back

Injury Woes for the Giants: Andrew Thomas Out, Saquon Barkley and Azeez Ojulari Questionable

The New York Giants are facing a series of challenges as they prepare for their upcoming game against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. Left tackle Andrew Thomas will not be able to play after suffering a setback in his hamstring recovery during Thursday's practice. This is a major blow to the Giants' offensive line, as Thomas has been a key player in protecting quarterback Daniel Jones.

Head coach Brian Daboll revealed that Thomas "wasn't feeling right" during individual drills earlier in the week. This led to the decision to sit him out for Monday's game. In Thomas' absence, Josh Ezeudu is expected to make his third straight start at left tackle. This will be the third different starting offensive line alignment for the Giants in just four games. Daboll expressed confidence in Ezeudu and the other players stepping up, but acknowledged that no one can fully replace Andrew Thomas.

Daboll described Thomas' status as "week-to-week," ruling out a stint on injured reserve. The team wants to ensure that Thomas is fully ready to return and has completed the necessary rehabilitation. It remains uncertain whether Thomas will be ready to play next week.

On the defensive side, the Giants are hopeful for the return of outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari, who has been absent for the past two games due to injury. Ojulari could provide a much-needed boost to a defense that has struggled with only two sacks in three games. Daboll praised Ojulari's performance in practice and expressed optimism about his return. Ojulari has accumulated 13.5 career sacks in 25 games, despite being plagued by injuries.

While the Giants may receive some positive news with Ojulari's potential return, they are still facing uncertainty with star running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley is currently day-to-day with a high-ankle sprain that kept him out of the Giants' last game against the San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Daboll stated that Barkley is feeling better but didn't expect him to do much in practice on Tuesday. The team will continue to monitor his progress throughout the week.

Barkley himself has been cautious about rushing back from previous ankle issues. The Giants will take into account his previous experiences and consult with trainers before making a decision on his return. Linebacker Azeez Ojulari has also been making progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury, and an update on his status will be provided later in the week. Cornerback Deonte Banks, who suffered a bruised arm, expects to be ready to play against the Seahawks.

With multiple key players dealing with injuries, the Giants will need their backups and reserves to step up and fill the void. The team is hoping for a successful return for Ojulari and a swift recovery for Thomas and Barkley as they face a tough matchup against the Seahawks on Monday night.
