Tragic Death of Sandlot Star Marty York's Mother Leads to Arrest of Boyfriend

In a shocking turn of events, the mother of Sandlot star Marty York and Northern California sheriff's deputy, Del Norte County Sheriff Deputy Deanna Esmaeel, was found dead in her home, and her boyfriend has been arrested in connection to her death. The Del Norte County Sheriff's Office announced on Friday that Edward Patrick Davies, who legally changed his name from Daniel James Walter in July, was taken into custody as a suspect in the homicide.

The grim discovery was made on Thursday morning at Esmaeel's residence on North Bank Road in Crescent City, California. Concerns arose when Esmaeel failed to show up for work and did not respond to calls. Staff members from the Wild Rivers Outpost went to her home to check on her, only to find her lifeless body. This prompted a search for Davies, who was eventually located in Curry County, Oregon, a few hours away from Del Norte County.

As news of the tragedy spread, Marty York, known for his role as Alan 'Yeah-Yeah' McClennan in the beloved 1993 film "The Sandlot," learned about his mother's death from the sheriff's office. The devastated actor took to Instagram to share his emotions, expressing a mix of rage, vengeance, and grief. He posted a photo of himself with his mother and the wanted flyer of Davies, urging the public to contact authorities if they had any information on the suspect's whereabouts.

Sheriff Garrett Scott also shared his condolences, stating, "We are all deeply heartbroken with the loss of Deputy Esmaeel. Our hearts and prayers go out to her family, friends, and co-workers." Deputy Esmaeel had only been with the sheriff's office since March 2021, according to the Wild Rivers Outpost.

Meanwhile, police investigations into the homicide continue. The suspect, Daniel James Walter, who legally changed his name to Edward Patrick Davies, is now in custody. Authorities have classified Esmaeel's death as a homicide and are actively searching for evidence.

Marty York's fans and supporters have rallied around him during this difficult time. On social media, he pleaded for justice for his mother, vowing to find the perpetrator. He shared heart-wrenching messages, including a photo of himself with his mother, begging her to come back and expressing his pain and anger. York's posts went viral, with many offering their support and spreading awareness of the ongoing manhunt for Davies.

As the investigation progresses, police have updated the public on the suspect's movements. Walter was last seen near North Bank Road on Thursday morning before fleeing on foot. However, authorities have since located his vehicle. The nationwide manhunt for Davies continues, with law enforcement agencies coordinating efforts to bring him to justice.

Marty York, in addition to his role in "The Sandlot," has appeared in various other TV shows, including "Saved by the Bell: The College Years," "Boy Meets World," "Sliders," and "Hey Arnold." In 2017, he made a guest appearance on the Showtime series "SMILF." Fox News Digital has reached out to York's representative and the Del Norte County Sheriff's Office for further comment on the tragic incident.
