00:33 11.11.2023

In a shocking act of violence, two deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Florida were severely injured after a man intentionally rammed his car into them. The incident, described as an ambush by Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister, occurred when deputies Cpl. Carlos Brito, 39, and Deputy Manny Santos, 31, responded to a 911 call reporting a violent adult son.

According to reports, Ralph Bouzy, 28, initially left the scene when deputies attempted to make contact with him outside his home in the Heather Lakes subdivision of Brandon. However, he returned a short time later and allegedly accelerated his car, ultimately pinning the two deputies against their patrol car. Shocking home security video released by the sheriff's office captures the horrifying moment of impact.

After the collision, Bouzy casually walked towards his home, disregarding commands from the deputies who had their Tasers pointed at him. He was eventually tased and taken into custody. Both injured deputies were immediately rushed to Tampa General Hospital with severe leg injuries. Chronister revealed that one deputy, Brito, may require leg amputation as a result of the incident.

The severity of the injuries suffered by Brito and Santos highlights the deliberate nature of the attack. Sheriff Chronister expressed his outrage, stating, "These deputies never had a chance??¦These deputies' lives are changed forever. He chose today to use his car as a weapon. They didn't have a chance to get out of the way."

In response to the incident, the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office announced the creation of a fundraiser to support the injured deputies and their families. The Lynn Sowers Memorial Foundation will use the funds raised to cover medical expenses, rehabilitation, and any additional support needed during their recovery.

Bouzy, the perpetrator, has been charged with the attempted murder of law enforcement officers. Sheriff Chronister revealed that Bouzy had a lengthy criminal history, including three felonies and 14 misdemeanors. Additionally, Bouzy had previously expressed hostility towards law enforcement and had been arrested for a hit-and-run incident in 2017.

The shocking and premeditated nature of this attack has left the community in shock. The injured deputies, Brito and Santos, remain hospitalized, fighting to recover from their severe leg injuries. As the investigation continues, the community rallies together to support these brave individuals and their families in their journey towards healing.
