Kaitlin Armstrong Convicted for Killing Pro Cyclist Anna "Mo" Wilson

07:42 17.11.2023

In a shocking turn of events, a 35-year-old woman has been found guilty of murdering her love rival, Anna Moriah Mo Wilson, in a jealous rage. The convicted killer, Kaitlin Armstrong, shot Wilson dead after tracking her down using the fitness app Strava. Armstrong had been in a relationship with professional cyclist Colin Strickland, who had a brief fling with Wilson during a period of separation from Armstrong. The murder took place in May 2022 when Wilson was visiting Texas for a cycling race.

The trial revealed that Armstrong had been consumed by jealousy towards her love rival and had even called Wilson to warn her to stay away. Two of Armstrong's friends testified that she had mentioned wanting to kill Wilson. On the day of the murder, Wilson had gone swimming and had a meal and rum drinks with her boyfriend before Armstrong used Strava to locate her. Armstrong then shot Wilson twice in the head and once in the heart before fleeing the scene.

In an attempt to evade justice, Armstrong sold her Jeep and fled to Costa Rica using her sister's passport. She underwent a nose job and changed her hair color and style to alter her appearance. However, after 43 days on the run, she was eventually arrested at a beachside hostel. Armstrong later made a second attempt to escape authorities during a medical appointment outside jail, leading to a separate felony escape charge.

During the trial, the court heard emotional testimonies from Wilson's friends and family. Wilson's friend Caitlin Cash, who discovered her body and tried to perform CPR, expressed her guilt for not being able to protect her friend. Wilson's mother, Karen Wilson, described her daughter as someone who lived life to the fullest and never wasted any time. She expressed her devastation that her daughter's life was cut short.

Armstrong, who worked as a yoga teacher, did not testify on her own behalf during the trial. However, evidence presented in court linked her to the crime, including the sighting of her Jeep near the apartment at the time of the murder and matching bullet casings found near Wilson's body to a gun owned by Armstrong.

The jury deliberated for about two hours before delivering their verdict, finding Armstrong guilty of murder in the first degree. She now faces up to 99 years in prison. The jury is currently deliberating on her sentence.

The trial captured national attention due to the shocking nature of the crime and the international manhunt that ensued after Armstrong fled the country. The conviction brings some closure to Wilson's loved ones, who can now begin the healing process. The sentencing decision will determine the length of Armstrong's punishment and provide a sense of justice for the victim's family.
