NYPD investigates Sean 'Diddy' Combs following Cassie's abuse claims

09:45 17.11.2023

The investigation comes after Cassie, an R&B singer who was once signed to Combs' label, accused him of raping and physically abusing her for over a decade. In the explosive lawsuit filed on Thursday, Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, detailed the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of Combs, including being trafficked, raped, and viciously beaten from 2005 to 2018.

According to the lawsuit, Combs, who was 37 at the time, started his on-and-off-again relationship with Cassie when she was just 19. The suit claims that Combs introduced her to drugs in 2008 to keep her compliant and frequently and savagely beat her throughout their relationship. He also allegedly forced her to engage in drugged-fueled sex acts with sex workers, which he filmed and directed.

One particular incident mentioned in the lawsuit occurred in 2009 when Combs allegedly became enraged after seeing Cassie speaking with another music manager at a party. He allegedly pushed her out of the club, stomped on her face until she was bleeding, and then kept her confined to a hotel for a week as she recovered from her injuries.

In 2011, when Cassie briefly dated musician Kid Cudi, Combs allegedly beat her and later threatened to blow up Kid Cudi's car. The court documents state that around that time, the car did explode in Kid Cudi's driveway, confirming Cassie's account.

The lawsuit also accuses Combs of exerting control over Cassie's personal and professional life. He allegedly controlled her finances, paid for her apartments, and even forced her to carry a gun in her handbag as a symbol of his power and dangerousness.

In 2018, Cassie finally broke up with Combs over dinner, but he allegedly forced his way into her home, which he paid for, and raped her. Following this incident, Cassie cut all ties with Combs and has since married personal trainer Alex Fine.

Combs' attorney, Ben Brafman, vehemently denied the allegations, stating that Cassie had been demanding $30 million from Combs for the past six months under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship. Brafman called the lawsuit baseless and aimed at tarnishing Combs' reputation.

In the wake of these allegations, the NYPD has reportedly opened a secret investigation into Combs. Although details about the investigation are currently locked, sources say that a case file with Combs' name exists. This investigation comes as the Adult Survivors Act in New York allows alleged sexual abuse victims to file civil suits even after the statute of limitations has passed.

Cassie, who has required intensive medical and psychological care to recover from the trauma she experienced, hopes that speaking out about her abuse will bring justice for the decade of her life that Combs allegedly took away from her.
