Controversial figure Kyle Rittenhouse turns to writing after financial struggle

07:37 24.11.2023

In a shocking turn of events, Kyle Rittenhouse, the teenager who fatally shot two Black Lives Matter protesters in Wisconsin in 2020, has now found himself broke. His lawyer, Mark Richards, made the revelation, stating that despite the assumption that Rittenhouse had received a substantial sum of money from his high-profile case, all of it is gone.

The incident occurred during a night of unrest in Kenosha, where hundreds had gathered to protest the police shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black man. Rittenhouse, who was 17 at the time, fired a semi-automatic AR-15-style assault rifle at the protesters, resulting in the deaths of Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26. Another protester, Gaige Grosskreutz, 26, was wounded but survived the attack.

Rittenhouse was charged with multiple offenses including first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree recklessly endangering safety. However, in 2021, a jury acquitted him of all charges, accepting his self-defense argument. Since then, Rittenhouse has continued to make appearances in right-wing media, capitalizing on his infamy. He recently announced the release of his book, titled "Acquitted," which he describes as a "story of survival, resilience, and justice."

Despite his newfound notoriety, Rittenhouse's lawyer has revealed that the 20-year-old has lost all his money. Richards emphasized that Rittenhouse is now living a law-abiding life, supporting himself through full-time work. He expressed hope that Rittenhouse would re-engage in his studies, but acknowledged that his financial situation is challenging.

Rittenhouse had previously appealed for donations to his legal defense fund, appearing on Fox News to solicit support. Although he was acquitted in criminal court, he is currently facing a wrongful death lawsuit filed by John Huber, the father of Anthony Huber. The lawsuit accuses Rittenhouse, as well as Kenosha city officials and its police force, of violating his son's constitutional rights. Rittenhouse has managed to raise $250,000 for his legal defense fund to fight this lawsuit.

The estate of Joseph Rosenbaum has also filed a wrongful death suit against Rittenhouse, seeking compensatory and punitive damages. The legal battles surrounding Rittenhouse continue, with his trial and acquittal having been highly divisive. Prosecutors portrayed him as a "wannabe soldier" who actively sought trouble, while his supporters viewed him as a patriot taking a stand against lawlessness.

Controversy has followed Rittenhouse even after his trial, as he has criticized the media and officials such as President Joe Biden. He has campaigned for gun rights and joined gun rights activists in opposing a Texas state House bill that aimed to raise the minimum age to purchase semi-automatic weapons. In July, Rittenhouse established The Kyle Rittenhouse Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on defending individuals' inalienable right to bear arms.

As Rittenhouse prepares to publish his book, titled "Acquitted," he claims it will provide the real and honest version of his story, free from filters or agendas. He aims to convey positive messages and share the lessons he learned from being thrust into the national spotlight.

Despite the controversy surrounding Rittenhouse, it remains to be seen how his book will be received by the public. With no release date announced yet, it is available for pre-order on his website.
