Suspected Colorado shooter and linked accomplice arrested in New Mexico

A woman believed to be the girlfriend of a man suspected of a triple homicide in a property dispute in rural Colorado has been arrested in New Mexico. Nancy Rae Medina-Kochis, 50, was apprehended on Thursday and is being held as an accessory to the crime. The arrest was announced by the Custer County Sheriff's Office in Colorado, who have been investigating the shooting that took place on Monday near Westcliffe, Colorado. The incident resulted in the deaths of Robert Geers, 63, his wife Beth Wade Geers, 73, and James Daulton, 58. Patty Daulton, wife of James, was also injured in the shooting.

The suspect, Hanme Clark, 45, had an ongoing property line dispute with at least one of the victims. Clark was arrested on Tuesday in New Mexico, near Albuquerque, after being on the run for approximately 25 hours. Authorities, including the New Mexico State Police and U.S. Marshals, were involved in the arrest. Clark's girlfriend, Nancy Rae Medina-Kochis, was with him in the Dodge Ram pickup truck at the time of the arrest. Clark is currently awaiting extradition to Colorado.

Sheriff Rich Smith of Custer County expressed his hope that Clark's arrest would bring relief to the community and closure to the victims' families during a news conference. The shooting occurred on Monday afternoon in a wooded area northeast of Westcliffe. A surveyor was present on the property line when the shooting took place but managed to escape unharmed. The victims were found deceased at the scene, and Patty Daulton was airlifted to a hospital in Colorado Springs in critical condition.

Neighbors not involved in the shooting have accused Clark of harassing them and denying them access to their property. Court records indicate that Clark had posted signs stating that he was armed. The Custer County Sheriff's Department had previously been investigating the ongoing property line dispute between Clark and one of the victims, which ultimately led to the tragic shooting.

At this time, it is unclear whether charges have been filed against Clark or Medina-Kochis, and it is unknown if they have legal representation. The authorities continue to investigate the case as they work to bring justice to the victims and their families.
