In a shocking incident in the Bronx, a man died while in police custody after he headbutted a paramedic during a struggle. The incident occurred on Friday morning at around 10:20 a.m. when officers responded to a call for help from medics who were inside the 49-year-old man's apartment on Prospect Avenue in the Mott Haven section.

The first responders had been summoned to the man's home to assist him with injuries sustained in a previous motorcycle accident, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD). However, the situation quickly escalated when the man became combative and assaulted a 33-year-old medic after being placed inside an ambulance.

By the time the police arrived at the scene, the EMS had already transported the man to Lincoln Hospital with a head injury. The NYPD took the man into custody at the hospital without incident. Tragically, he later succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical care.

The assaulted EMT, who is a member of the Fire Department of New York (FDNY), was treated at Lincoln Hospital and subsequently released, as confirmed by an FDNY spokesman.

This incident comes after a medic was stabbed by a deranged patient in her ambulance in Manhattan back in July.
