American Driver Wanted by UK Police for Devastating Crash Located in Texas

In a shocking turn of events, the American driver who fled the UK after a horrific crash that left a British nurse severely injured has been located in his hometown in Texas. Issac Calderon, 22, is wanted by West Mercia Police and is now living with his parents in Humble, Texas. Elizabeth Donowho, the nurse who broke both ankles in the crash, expressed her relief that Calderon had been found but also voiced her disgust at the situation.

Donowho, in an interview with Sky News, revealed that she had been informed by UK police officers that Calderon had connections to the US intelligence services. This revelation left her feeling sickened and confused. Sky News managed to track down Calderon's father, Manuel, who confirmed that his son is now back home and claimed that the situation had been blown out of proportion. Manuel Calderon insisted that his son had been in the UK on a work visa and had recently been employed in a warehouse, although he couldn't recall the name of the company.

The events leading up to Calderon's escape from the UK were rather dramatic. Just days before a court hearing in Kidderminster, where he had been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, Calderon fled the country. A warrant for his arrest was subsequently issued, and West Mercia Police had been working tirelessly to reach him through various channels. The police were even preparing the necessary paperwork for a possible extradition request, as both the US and UK authorities remained tight-lipped about Calderon's activities in the UK.

There were conflicting reports about Calderon's occupation. While his father claimed that he was part of the American National Guard and served a few weeks a year, the court listed his occupation as "American soldier." The US Embassy in London previously confirmed that Calderon is a US citizen, but both the US and UK authorities refused to disclose any further details about his activities in the UK.

Ms. Donowho expressed her frustration with the lack of communication from the authorities, stating that she learned about Calderon's location from the media rather than the police. She emphasized that all she wants is for him to face justice and for an explanation as to how he was able to leave the country in the first place. Radd Seiger, a spokesperson for Donowho and the family of Harry Dunn, who was killed in a crash involving a US spy, called for Calderon to return voluntarily or be brought back to the UK promptly. Seiger highlighted that Calderon is innocent until proven otherwise but stressed the importance of him facing the charges against him.

The crash, which occurred on July 31 near Shucknall in Herefordshire, resulted in Donowho suffering multiple fractures, including both ankles, a fractured sternum, and a broken bone in her hand. She was unable to walk for six weeks and described the incident as devastating. Donowho was told by police that Calderon had been visiting the SAS base in Herefordshire, which is located just nine miles from the crash site. However, West Mercia Police later stated that they were unaware of any connection to the SAS base but believed Calderon was in the country on a work visa.

The UK government expressed their concern over Calderon's failure to appear in court and stated that the Crown Prosecution Service is considering the next steps. Meanwhile, Donowho, who has been unable to return to work due to her injuries, expressed her disappointment and fear that Calderon may never face justice. She cited the case of Anne Sacoolas, the US spy who killed Harry Dunn and fled to the US claiming diplomatic immunity, as a reason for her skepticism. Sky News confirmed that there are no issues of diplomatic immunity in Calderon's case.

The US Embassy declined to comment on ongoing litigation involving US citizens, while the US State Department and the UK authorities assured that they are coordinating on the case. As the pursuit for justice continues, Donowho and her spokesperson are hopeful that Calderon will either voluntarily return or be extradited to the UK to face the charges against him. Only time will tell how this story unfolds and whether justice will ultimately be served.
