Mark Wahlberg's kids find him 'cringe' but only cool when it's convenient

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg opened up about his children's lack of impressiveness towards him in real life. Wahlberg, who shares four children with his wife Rhea Durham, admitted that his kids, daughters Ella and Grace, and sons Michael and Brendan, do not think he is cool just because he is a Hollywood star.

According to Wahlberg, his children only consider him cool when it is convenient for them, such as when he helps them get something done or when he introduces them to someone they admire. He explained that while he and co-star Michelle Monaghan may lead an exciting life in the movies, they become "boring parents" once they return home.

The 52-year-old actor recognized that this perception is not unique to him but rather a universal experience for parents. He explained that kids often view their parents as out of touch and fail to recognize the wisdom and life experiences they possess. Wahlberg expressed his desire to pass on his knowledge and experiences to his children to make their lives easier and help them avoid the mistakes he made.

Wahlberg's children also poke fun at his musical past as a member of the hip-hop group, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. The actor revealed that his children find his singing cringe-worthy and prefer not to hear it. Wahlberg rose to fame with the group, which released its platinum debut album, "Music For the People," in 1991, before transitioning into acting.

Interestingly, Wahlberg's children could relate to a scene in his latest film, "The Family Plan," where he and Monaghan's characters embarrass their kids by singing along to a Vanilla Ice song. Wahlberg shared that his children found the scene hilarious and enjoyed laughing at him.

In "The Family Plan," Wahlberg plays the role of Dan Morgan, an elite government assassin who becomes a suburban family man and car salesman. The plot centers around Morgan's past catching up with him, putting his family in danger. Determined to protect his loved ones while giving them a memorable vacation, Morgan goes on a cross-country road trip, using his dormant skills without revealing his true identity.

During the premiere of "The Family Plan," Wahlberg mentioned that he handles his daughters bringing dates home with relative ease, admitting that it is an inevitable part of their lives. He also shared a recent experience attending a fraternity party at his daughter Ella's college, Clemson University. Wahlberg clarified that he was invited and that it was not a party crash. He described the event as a wild and enjoyable experience, giving him a glimpse of what he missed out on by not attending college himself.

All in all, Wahlberg's children may not be impressed by his Hollywood status, but they find amusement in teasing him about his past and enjoy sharing laughs with their famous dad.
