Taylor Swift sparks controversy after near F-bomb incident at Chiefs game

07:03 19.12.2023

In a surprising turn of events, pop superstar Taylor Swift found herself at the center of attention during the Kansas City Chiefs' game against the New England Patriots on Sunday. Swift, who was in attendance to support her boyfriend, Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce, was caught on camera displaying a range of emotions throughout the game.

One particular moment that caught everyone's eye was when Kelce fell to the ground on a pass intended for him, and no penalty flag was thrown. Cameras captured Swift in the suite, mouthing something while her boyfriend looked for a flag. Speculation ran rampant on social media, with many believing that Swift had mouthed an expletive or was calling for a flag.

To get a clearer understanding of the situation, Fox News Digital reached out to Jeremy Freeman, a forensic expert lip reader based in the U.K. According to Freeman, it was not entirely clear what Swift had said. "After careful examination, it is my professional opinion that Taylor Swift did not utter the expletive 'f-' as has been alleged," Freeman stated. "The lip patterns observed do not align with this specific word. The sequence appears to begin with 'you,' followed by a sound resembling 'f.' However, upon closely observing her mouth movements, it seems she rolls her R. This movement does not correspond with the alleged word 'flag.'"

Freeman went on to suggest that Swift might have altered her intended word mid-sentence, possibly realizing that she was being observed. He offered three potential words that Swift could have been uttering - frug, fry, or fruck. Freeman emphasized that without clear audio to accompany the footage, any interpretation of lip-reading remains speculative. However, based on his expertise, he concluded that the evidence did not support the claim that Swift had used an offensive word.

Despite the lip-reading controversy, Swift's support for the Chiefs was evident throughout the game. She entered Gillette Stadium wearing a Chiefs hat and was seen in the suite with her father and Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Fortunately for Swift and the Chiefs, the game ended on a high note as Kansas City snapped its two-game losing streak with a 27-17 victory.

On the field, however, Kelce was facing struggles against the Patriots' defense. In the third quarter, he attempted to get position against a New England defensive back but failed to draw a flag. This visibly upset Swift, who called for a penalty flag to be thrown on the defensive back, Myles Bryant. Unfortunately for Swift, her plea went unanswered, and Kansas City settled for a field goal.

Despite Kelce's struggles, the Chiefs showed resilience and turned their fortunes around. Shortly after Swift's frustration, the Patriots' quarterback, Bailey Zappe, threw an interception, allowing the Chiefs to score a touchdown and extend their lead to 24-10. Kelce, who had a slow start to the game with only three catches for 13 yards, eventually contributed five catches on seven targets for 28 yards.

The victory was crucial for the Chiefs, who had been struggling in recent weeks, losing their last two games and four out of their last six. With an 8-5 record on the season, there were concerns about their performance down the stretch. However, as the defending Super Bowl champions, the Chiefs proved once again that they should never be underestimated.

As the game concluded, Swift's presence and her passionate support for Kelce and the Chiefs did not go unnoticed. The internet may have been divided over her alleged outburst, but one thing was certain - Swift's loyalty to her team was unwavering.
