Gaza hospital 'safe place' for Hamas terrorists, hospital chief admits during interrogation

06:16 20.12.2023

In a shocking revelation, the head of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabaliya, Gaza, Ahmad Kahlot, has admitted to being a senior Hamas commander and revealed how the terror group had transformed the hospital into a military hub. Kahlot made his confession to the Israeli security service Shin Bet after being arrested during a raid on the hospital last week. The taped interrogation video was released on X on Tuesday.

Dressed in an Israeli jail uniform and seated in front of Israel's flag, Kahlot disclosed that he joined Hamas in 2010 and held a rank equivalent to a brigadier general. He further revealed that around 16 hospital staff members, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, and clerks, were also members of Hamas' notorious military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.

According to Kahlot, the hospital had been used as a hiding spot for up to 100 Hamas terrorists. Some of the group's leaders even had offices with private phone lines inside the facility. There were designated spaces for interrogations, internal security, and special security. When asked why Hamas chose the hospital as its operational hub, Kahlot stated that they considered it a safe place where they wouldn't be harmed.

In a shocking revelation, Kahlot also disclosed that Hamas had once brought a kidnapped Israeli soldier to the hospital and used its private ambulance service to transport the bodies of hostages tied to a massacre on October 7. However, he did not provide further details about the fate of the soldier or the specific events surrounding the incident.

In a scathing criticism of his fellow Hamas leaders, Kahlot referred to them as cowards who had abandoned the staff in the open while they went into hiding. He expressed his disappointment, stating that the people were the ones who suffered the consequences of their actions.

The Israeli forces breached the Kamal Adwan Hospital on December 12, capturing around 90 suspected Hamas terrorists and confiscating a significant amount of weapons. The World Health Organization has confirmed that the hospital is no longer functioning, and all patients have been evacuated. Israel has long accused Hamas of using hospitals as secret military bases.

This revelation exposes the extent to which Hamas has infiltrated and exploited civilian facilities for its military operations. It raises concerns about the safety of hospitals and the ethical implications of using these spaces for armed activities. The Israeli authorities will undoubtedly investigate further and take appropriate action in response to these revelations.
